Dry Brushing
Add to your massage – $25
(additional 15 minutes)
An Ayurvedic technique using dry natural bristled brush. Whisk away dullness at the surface creating smoother & softer skin and allowing better penetration of oils. It will also help to stimulate lymphatic drainage, which helps to escort toxins out of the body, boosting circulation and reducing puffiness and water retention. Dry brushing is not recommended in sensitive areas and anywhere the skin is broken. These include rashes, wounds, cuts, infections.
Hot Stone Therapy
Add to your massage – $25.00
(except Prenatal)
Heat has always been a good way to ease muscle tension and pain, and it’s even better when you add in a little bit of weight and some nature. Hot stone therapy uses river rocks and/or basalt stones that are flat smooth and heated in water to a therapeutic temperature. The weight and heat of the stones have a soothing effect, expanding the blood vessels which encourages blood flow throughout the body working as a sedative to reduce anxiety. The heat from the stones warms up the tissue and allows us to get deeper into the muscle tension which then helps the deeper tissue massage feel more enjoyable.
This treatment is also about connecting with nature. The stones are believed to have a quality within them that represents the core of the earth, helping you get grounded, centered and connect with nature.
Ashiatsu
Additional $25.00
(except Prenatal)
Ashi = foot; Atsu = pressure
If you’re in need of deep tissue work, but don’t enjoy the discomfort that comes with pointy elbows and thumbs, then Ashiatsu is the treatment for you! Utilizing bodyweight and the foot as a massage tool provides broad, consistent pressure that creates structural change throughout the body. The long fluid strokes also help flush the body’s lymphatic system at a higher rate. The lymphatic system is what releases metabolic waste, so drinking plenty of water, before and after a treatment, will help with the detoxification process.
Body Gua Sha
Add to your massage – $25
(additional 15 minutes)
This is an East Asian healing technique using a small, smooth-edged tool to firmly scrape your skin in one direction with short or long strokes to stimulate microcirculation of the soft tissue, which increases blood flow. Scraping your skin and causing petechiae to appear on your skin is believed to activate both your immune system and nervous system, setting off a complex chain of events in your body. Studies show that when done correctly, Gua Sha can release chemicals that improve blood flow, lessen toxins, reduce pain, and promote healing in the area.
Gua sha is intended to address stagnant energy, called chi, in the body that practitioners believe may be responsible for inflammation. Rubbing the skin’s surface is thought to help break up this energy, reduce inflammation, and promote healing. Contraindicated if you’ve had any surgery in the last six weeks, diabetes, on blood thinners, have clotting disorder, or skin conditions psoriasis or rosacea.
Facial Gua Sha
Add to your massage – $25.00
(additional 15 minutes)
This is different than Body Gua Sha, there is no scraping. It is designed to relax facial muscles, reduce inflammation, increase circulation, and assist in lymphatic drainaga. By oxygenating the skin and improving lymph flow, the results are radiant glowing skin.
TMJ
Add to your massage – $25
(additional 15 minutes)
Jaw clenching and teeth grinding strain the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). TMJ dysfunction can be very painful, affecting your quality of life and quite possibly the alignment of your teeth. These habits can spread beyond the jaw itself causing headaches, neck and shoulder pain, dizziness, and tingling or numbness in the face or jaw. While the exact causes of TMJ Disorders are not always clear, massage has proven to be effective in alleviating symptoms and pain. This session will include intra-oral manipulation with protective gloves.
